Pros

Leadership has a solid plan. Lori has closely aligned her goals with the parent company and has their full support. Fireman's Fund has a longstanding reputation for excellence in claims servicing.

Cons

Outsourcing every function they can. Which as you know means they are sacrificing operation efficiency for perceived cost saving. The reality is that they are losing market share because of "ease of doing business" issues. They have layoffs every six month as a direct result of the outsourcing. At the same time that management is laying off their IT knowledge base, they are hiring new Vice Presidents at a rate of 2 a month. As a result Fireman's Fund is now top heavy with too many chiefs and not enough Indians...oh no that'snot right......too many chiefs and too many Indians (outsource workers).

Advice to Management

Stop laying off all of your IT knowledge. Stop hiring Vice Presidents.

    Pros

New leadership team appears solid and has a clear plan of action, nice setting in suburbia that promotes work-life balance.

    Cons

Aggressive down-sizing has left many departments short-staffed, creating low morale and distrust of leadership, managers are not necessarily trained to lead others, resulting in limited communication and dissatisfaction among employee base.

    Advice to Management

FFIC needs leaders who are trained to motivate their employees and given the necessary tools to reward performance and retain talent.

    Pros

Challenging problems Opportunities to move around the company to get exposure to new experiences People are nice to work with Management is not directly abusive to employees, they're just doing their job

    Cons

Reducing in size for a long time Kind of in survival mode Shedding people who have been there for a long time for younger, inexperienced Business direction has not been clear for a long time A lot of outsourcing IT infrastructure does not know what it's doing Not the same company it was Management is passive aggressive, play an us and them game behind your back You can work as hard as you want and it will not matter but they will take it

    Advice to Management

You cannot communicate enough Listen to IT; they could have saved you millions of dollars Believe in the staff you have invested in for years Revamp your infrastructure area; clean house
