Fireman's Fund Insurance – “Beware!”

Overall, many nice everyday people work in their claims department.
Cons
Way too many to list comnpletely.
I actually quite FFIC in 1999, but it does not sound like they're company philosophy has changed. In a strange turn of events, then CEO Gary Black came to every office to promote/outline a new marketing program and to help company morale. He held a "town hall" meeting and then held a question and answer session. When questions were asked that he either did not like or did not want to answer, he basically said, "if you don't like it, you can get the Hell out". We could hard believe what we had heard. Wow.
FFIC has had and apparently continues to have a difficult time promoting folks who truly deserve it. They've got no abiltiy to reward hard work and dedication. Based on their local management (whom are still there), they promote based on "it's who you know, not what you know". Some of their current managers are completely incompetent and that's a shame, because they've run off alot of really good people.
FFIC has opened, closed or relocated their local office multiple times. Thus, don't get too attached to your location or your job for that matter.
If you're thinking about working at FFIC, do yourself a favor and talk to an ex-employee. They aren't hard to find since there are so many of us.
Advice to Senior Management
