Current Employee - Store Manager
Current Employee - Store Manager

I have been working at Firestone Complete Auto Care full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Good product. Job security. A lot of opportunity to grow. Plenty of work. Next couple of years, old school middle management will be retiring leaving openings for advancement.

Cons

Want more results without any added support. Understaffed at every retail store. Management does not have clear objective. Big separation between retail and management. Manage by discipline rather than incentive. Feedback is not heard. Work life balance is terrible. Too many middle management staff making big salaries managing by reports only.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start taking care of the employee and the employee will take care of the customer. Think about their work life balance. Spend more time at retail level rather than just sending emails. A lot has changed since you were here. Come see.

I have been working at Firestone Complete Auto Care full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Every customer, and their vehicle present a unique challenge and experience. Not the normal retail monotony. - Time Flies!

Days off and work shifts are flexible.

    Good Benefits.

    Bonuses are real, and obtainable.

Close earlier than most retail stores.

Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and 4th of July. Not busy during Christmas

Company Values integrity, and is empowers employees to take care of customers.

    Cons

Managers required to work weekend sales events once a month that are usually holiday weekends that normal people get 3 days off like labor day, memorial day, presidents day.

Manager required to work one Sunday a month, but not allowed to take Monday off. Expected to work 6 days on weeks we are required to work Sunday.

Average store has a small staff of 3 customer service associates including the store manager, to cover being open 7 days a week 12 hours a day. 50-60 hour work weeks normal for everyone. Not a lot of room for time off.

You must be very hands on to work here, not much delegation, hapening around here. You will be accountable for personall performance, and leadership doesn't count for much.

No Work life balance, long hours with no comp-time.

    Must work every Saturday.

People promoted for being good sales people, not good leaders. Higher ups will ignore problems in store and managers who abuse employees as long as sales are good in store.

Lack of development beyond store manager level.

Culture of the manager carrying the store and upper management believes the store will fail or sales will fall short on managers day off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a life outside of Firestone. Learn how to develop people.

I worked at Firestone Complete Auto Care full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

not many, possibly use some benefits, get your foot in the door for some training and move on to bigger and better things

    Cons

the pay is low, do not expect any pay increases.....you will not have any backing, there is no teamwork, nobody in the company knows what flatrate times are and they dont know what productivity is unless they get it from district manager.......after more than 10 years with the company, 7 ase certifications i received only 1 pay raise and it wasnt worth it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

hire managers with auto experience, not someone with a pulse from petco and think about your technicians who are doing all the work for no money
