I worked at First American full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The benefits in discounts when purchasing from companies that work with First American.

    Cons

Very low employee moral in FA home warranty. Support staff and supervisors are limited in providing customer satisfaction/ retention.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is a call center, however, most departments work against the overall goal of customer satisfaction. Focus is placed on the bottom dollar and saving a dollar with departments that affect a client's outcome. Common sense is overruled by company policy.
Place more focus on customer feedback and complaints. Actually listen to the homeowners or the employees you ask to be advocates for the homeowners. Have customer satisfaction be a goal with every department under the Home Warranty, not just the departments that deal with customers directly.

I have been working at First American full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good PTO, medical, 401K,etc.

Good company to get foot in the door and learn the title business (but not a place to stay).

    Cons

Once you are in a position, you have no where to go, no one advances, positions get eliminated.

Corporate doesn't have a clue what goes on in the branches every day and what the employees deal with.

Pay freeze for the past 6 years and empty promises of raises, and yet employees are subjected to hear how much money the company makes.

No incentive to stay loyal. Pay is low, no morale boosters, bonuses were taken away years ago, you are lucky if you get a "Merry Xmas" email, no holiday gifts, etc.

Many managers skate by on bare minimum work, push their duties off on their staff, and yet maintain their title despite that many are not qualified or capable of managing.

Management makes bad business decisions and employees are the ones who suffer.

    No training to develop employees.

Very bad attitude the past few years by managers who say that employees are "lucky to have a job" , treat employees unfairly (and ask "where are you going to go? There are no jobs") and do not demonstrate any positive atmosphere.

Expect closers to work weekends and after hours yet refuse to pay overtime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in tune to what is going on . Everyone is my area was absolutely miserable and frustrated with our field manager and yet no one cared. Start to value your employees more because you are losing them and will continue to do so.
