Management and a lack of understanding to market needs and wants present the most obstacles to success.

I have been working at First Data

    Pros

They have the most products, services, and certifications available.

    Cons

The sales process is crippled with complexity, restrictions, and limits by upper management.

The compensation plan has been severely cut even when meeting or exceeding plan.

The relationship management tools are improving but it is still very difficult to build a book of business that will survive when corporate modifies all pricing that was negotiated sometimes as early as 6 months after account setup.

Do not plan on advancement if you will be a remote employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some management is effective for communication and a simple need for chain of command. However any efficiency in management is undermined by upper management that complicates sales with inefficient , forced processes and rigid limits to market competitive pricing. (some of which pricing and flexibility is being used in other territories to compete)

Most management for any position like this is over rated report collecting and spin messaging.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
