First Data – “Muddled”

Pros

First Data has always had some great people. While many of them have left for greener pastures, there are still some around. Benefits are average or somewhat above average for large corporations

Cons

Senior and middle management seem to more and more come from the philosophy that people are widgets and completely interchangeable. New IT management is isolated from the people who do the work, and somehow believe that "reports" are how work gets done, all the while not realizing that over the last 5 years most IT teams have been cut beyond the "bone". Vice President level people are doing the work people below them should be doing, because there aren't any workeres left.

Advice to Senior Management

While you are busy positioning First Data to be sold, try to keep enough of it around so that is stays afloat until you can unload it.
