Be clear to future staff what they are signing up for.

I worked at First Derivatives full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

When onsite you are provided with a good apartment and receive good expense payments.
You can fill out your CV rather well in a short period of time if your lucky with the role that they assign you.
Generally nice colleagues to work with.

    Cons

Although it may claim to be, First Derivatives is not a finance company. It is a technology firm in the financial sector. This is an important difference. Your work will be programming or database related. It will not be directly finance related. This may not be what you're expecting.
Although the job is marketed as non-stop international travel, the company is Newry headquartered and keeps a substantial proportion of its graduates there. This number is somewhere in the region of 25% and is growing all the time, as the company develops its off shore business model and wins more HQ based contracts. Be prepared to spend a minimum of 6 months to 2 years in Newry before moving onsite.
A big part of your pay package is generous living expenses when you move onsite. However if you are left in Newry you will get no expenses. This reduces your wage to a little over the legal minimum.
The company has an enormous turnover rate. As a result there are few experienced professionals to learn from. The training becomes self led and so not of the highest quality. It's sometimes a blind leading the blind approach.
You have no say in the role they give you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more truthful in you graduate recruitment. It will help to attract the people you are looking for and reduce the high turnover rates.
Introduce a payment system for people kept at HQ to bring payment up to the level of onsite workers.
Consult with employees before forcing them to take a role they are not interested in.
