Solid place to work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at FirstEnergy

Pros--Good people to work with
--Strong industry...provides a product of necessity
--Work can be challenging and rewarding
--Opportunity to work at several locations

Cons--Since electricity has to flow 24/7. your work/life balance can suffer
--Not enough knowledge transfer from older employees to young employees
--Company does not seem to promote training and continuing education
--Entire industry is suffering from aging infrastructure

Advice to Senior Management--Needs to offer better employee training programs or allow employees to attend program and seminars.
--Do a better job of transferring tribal knowledge to younger employees
