Pros

The work is easy even if you are brand new to the fitness industry.
Pay is monthly to your Paypal account, and is usually early or on-time.
Cookie cutter programs allow you to create a program quickly IF YOU HAVE TO.
They find the clients for you through their marketing/advertising campaigns.

It's great if you need the money and are in a real slow time with your own personal training business. Otherwise, you'll make more money with just ONE of your own online training clients.

Cons

The amount of time required to do your job well in creating a program for your clients doesn't amount to even minimum wage. Approximately $5 for each client PER WEEK. And that includes the time spent answering emails and holding hands for many clients who are very demanding. They expect a lot for their small monthly fee.

The website application is very slow and time consuming if you want to create your own training program. Theirs are very awkward and mostly "full body" with no rhyme or reason sometimes.

The nutrition program has NO FLEXIBILITY. Meals are canned, and calories usually too high. You can not create your own meal combinations or recipes. You can add "notes" to help make them more effective for your clients. But again, it's time consuming for only $5/week commission from a client.

Time off from work is usually not necessary if you can get your programs done before you have to go, or take your laptop with you. But if you do have to put yourself as unavailable and a client's program becomes due during that time and you do not do it then you could lose that client and be charged a $39 cancellation fee of that client. You only have a 2-3 day window to create your client's programs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the website application's performance and speed. Increase pay to compensate the time necessary to create a GOOD program and take care of client's needs. Allow more flexibility in food menu creation. Get back to basics like egg white omelets that have more than one egg, chicken and broccoli with no extra carbs, and real protein bars not just the "Think Thin" garbage that has soy as the protein.

I worked at FitOrbit as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

You receive a good amount of online clients that keep you busy and can earn some extra income on the side. Being listed as a FitOrbit trainer does help you even with your PT career in recruiting new clients having such a known backer to promote yourself with.

    Cons

Pay was terrible. They tell you it will only take 30 minutes a week to maintain a client when actually it's more like 30 minutes per day. For the price clients pay we don't receive hardly any of that, Pay rate stinks. Having such a low payrate makes you not want to go above and beyond. The software we use is slow, not responsive, and outdated. Clients often complain of problems that we can't do anything about to help them. Not worth the time. I switched from FitOrbit to jljfitness.com online trainer which was like night to day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more money out to your trainers, update software.
