Pros

Fitch is becoming the best of rating agencies. I was surprised by the exceptional skill of the workers, benefits and work life balance.

Cons

There is nothing worth mentioning.

I worked at Fitch Ratings full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

All the responsibility you can handle at a young age. Lots of exposure to executives in the industry you rate and also to the investors and bankers in the sector. Compensation is very fair, but being in NYC and so close to the big money makes you feel poorer than you are.

    Cons

Washington and the SEC have so shackled the Big 3 raters as to make life here a constant hassle. 40% of your time or more will be spent on regulatory compliance activities. For this reason I quit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't run a business based on a fear of litigation. Ratings is moving toward a government-run business. Diversify your revenue streams and move more toward being a pure research shop.

I worked at Fitch Ratings full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Knew their strengths and played to them
    - European working style - easy hours and good vacation

    Cons

    - Their two strengths, structured finance and bank ratings, helped cause the 2008 financial crisis and their revenue base was probably hard hit by it.
    - Not as serious about the non rating products and services yet had a global team around it
    - Low pay compared to the other Ratings agencies
    - Limited career opportunities for advancement and development

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Get a game plan together and define career paths for employees
