    Pros

    Secure position, flexible hours, great staff to work with! Hiring department knows how to read good character for potential employees.

    Cons

    Communication between corporate location and regional properties is sub-par. Issues with budgeting/managerial decision-making

    Listen to your employees. Make progressive budget decisions to save money, not just resort to "belt tightening" budget tactics.

    I worked at Five Star Quality Care part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    The residents and their families were the best thing about the job.

    Cons

    Where shall I begin? Understaffing was rampant, particularly with care managers, resulting in resident care not being commensurate with the huge monthly fees paid by residents. Those residents who needed more assistance were often "planted" in the lobby and ignored for parts of the day. Management's emphasis was more on sweeping problems under the rug rather than dealing with them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire enough staff so that these wonderful seniors living in your facility get the minimum care you would expect at a hotel, much less an assisted living facility. Solicit input on problems and actively work to solve them.
