I have been working at Florida Blue full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Financially stable and has been like most Health Insurance companies pre-Healthcare Reform. Salary levels not bad for Florida but Florida and much of the South lag comparable positions elsewhere by a good 10-15%. If you have a family (children) then you can integrate into the community. If single or empty nester Jacksonville is going no where fast. Drive to Orlando for civilization.

    Cons

Dont' get me wrong I like having a job, but middle mgt - junior exec level is without reservation the worst. Also no training or professional development its sink or swim. Mgt will crack the whip to make their goals and bonus and have no problem making you feel there are plenty to take your place. Teamwork is unheard of its all about "Me". Half the place is on Prozac to deal with the stress and that comment was from an external medical professional. You must, I repeat must, do your homework because they do a very effective snow job. They love to hire you for X but once your in their is so much turnover you be doing a lot of stuff out of your expertise and getting shafted for not meeting the goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

C-Level your direct reports are not leaders. Leaders your direct reports are only interested in their own interests. Mid Mgt/Highly skilled professional get out while you can
