I worked at Florida Career College part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

This position can assist in building a person's relational skill set [i.e. becoming more of a "people person].

Cons

The most frustrating aspect of this position is the pressure from management to essentially harass mall passersby into simply filling out a card for "college information" [which reportedly led to high pressure recruiting tactics by the admissions reps].

Advice to Management

My advice would be to train the mall kiosk reps on the admissions process. Show them how they fit into the big picture for FCC, then perhaps they will feel some value in their position, and FCC won't have such a high KMR turnover rate. Also, groom the KMR for admissions rep. positions or other administrative duties within the organization. Don't simply treat them as simpletons with no possibilities of advancement.

    Pros

There are no pros to working here

    Cons

Very hostile work environment. Sell, sell, sell, sell This is not an education company, but a high pressure sales business Management is EXTREMELY aggressive and leads by threats of job loss No job security - They turn staff over immediately if they miss a start No support from corporate for the campuses

    Advice to Management

Learn what the needs of the business are and start listening to the employees. Get rid of the mandatory monthly payment for students to "show their commitment" when they are 100% financially packaged. Bring back Student Services if you care about the employees

I worked at Florida Career College full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Changing the lives of low income students who will hopefully one day use the diploma or degree that they have earned to find a career.

    Cons

Unethical practices to lure and prey on under privileged individuals. New reps are given recycled cold leads to contact on a daily basis and are expected to succeed. Veteran reps of the college are shown favortism by being awarded new leads and walk-ins. Background checks are not given to all students in the medical field ultimately setting them up for failure. Very high turnover rate for all departments.
