Pros

The work environment is laid back. Everyone is very friends and nice. They require you to participate in professional development. Work at your own pace, and the workshops are great!

Cons

Some people are too laid back. Makes it hard to get work done sometimes.

Advice to Management

Care a little more about work.

FIU is behind in opportunities and gets little recognition and support to its graduates.

    Pros

You get to live in Miami, the campus is nice, the weather is warm, the education is really top notch but the university gets little recognition for it's quality (and difficulty) of education.

    Cons

They want you to stay broke, the cost of living in this city makes it difficult to live on the salary you are given, the professors can be difficult to work with, not too different than being a grad student anywhere else.

    Advice to Management

Help the students, they work hard and have no life and get little for it. I have never been more depressed as a grad student than I have ever been in my life. The universities funding problem is exacerbated by the spending to expand infrastructure, but they cut classes.
