FIU is behind in opportunities and gets little recognition and support to its graduates.

I have been working at Florida International University

Pros

You get to live in Miami, the campus is nice, the weather is warm, the education is really top notch but the university gets little recognition for it's quality (and difficulty) of education.

Cons

They want you to stay broke, the cost of living in this city makes it difficult to live on the salary you are given, the professors can be difficult to work with, not too different than being a grad student anywhere else.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help the students, they work hard and have no life and get little for it. I have never been more depressed as a grad student than I have ever been in my life. The universities funding problem is exacerbated by the spending to expand infrastructure, but they cut classes.

I have been working at Florida International University

    Pros

Balance of time for courses and research. Co-workers and advisors for the most part all work well together. Excellent location in Miami.

    Cons

Parking is terrible no matter what time of the day or semester. Employee self service portal is very difficult to use. Really not many cons.
