I have been working at Florida International University full-time (less than a year)

Pros

FIU has great staff all around, a student body that is great to work with, and a campus that is a pleasure to call home during the work day.

Cons

Miami traffic is always a great thing, but FIU is located out by the turnpike so that is helpful.

I worked at Florida International University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Growing entity; students are respectful and hardworking and you have an opportunity to further your education at no cost.

    Cons

Administrative assistants are overworked; when two leave only one is replaced and the other has to do two jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stamp out favoritism; it smacks of a lack of professionalism.

I worked at Florida International University part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - flexible hours, only 20 hours/weekly since is a part-time job
    - not difficult since they are mostly undergraduate courses

    Cons

    - the management is questionable, workload is not distributed fairly among all TAs (I got upset because I was given way more tasks than some others, what makes it worse is that they even add new assignments to you in the middle of the semester!)
    - no extra benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - make job assignment more fairly
    - do not change or add tasks to TA arbitrarily
