I have been working at Florida International University

    Pros

It is a dynamic environment. It is great to contribute to fulfilling the mission of the University. Sincere commitment to the community.

    Cons

Because of the long-standing history of underfunding for education and more recent budget shortfalls for education in Florida, it is challenging to deliver all the programs and services needed for students, faculty and staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

An ambitious strategic plan is an excellent tool as long as the implementation follows a realistic time frame. It will be important to factor this in to the implementation process.

Great if you are student working there while finishing your degree, but leave as soon as you are done...

I worked at Florida International University

    Pros

A lot of flexibility if you are a student there. Flexible schedule and time off, though this depends heavily on the department you work for and who your direct supervisor is. Great opportunity to get some work experience (if you can get a job related to your field of study) and to meet other people.

    Cons

So relaxed at times that makes you so comfortable you may not want to leave. If you want a comfortable job where you can get by easily (as long as you get your work done) that's ok, but if you are looking for challenging work and to work on other things, then leave as soon as you can after finishing your degree.
