I have been working at Flowserve full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Good benefits include full health coverage, healthy and safe work environment, and very manageable working hours (7:30-4:00 most days).

Cons

The position I'm currently in has a high turnover rate. Either you are promoted with 2-3 years or you move on to another company. Often times, our customers will hire engineers and pay higher salaries, Flowserve will not match. It seems as if the position is replaceable, which is understandable from a business stand point, but doesn't sit well with employees.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always keep the bigger picture in perspective. 99% of Application Engineers DO NOT see themselves in this position more than 2-3 years down the road. Work with engineers to understand how they want to grow and where they can move up in the company.

    I worked at Flowserve full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits, there are still some great people in management roles that are fair and have high work ethics, the majority of the employees in the field are hard working, great sales force, Flowserve has great products. there are great training courses available as long as they are utilized as they used to be years ago at the sales meetings.

    Cons

    The company has gone downhill as far as a company to work for. The morale was at an all time low when I left, people who had been there for over 10 years were leaving. The company had stopped sales meetings, incentives, etc. The CEO and COO lost perspective on the most important part of the company which should be the people. If your employees are not in a pleasant work environment then they will not be as productive as they should be. Flowserve expects more work but will not give more pay, they eliminate a position or a person and won't fill it to save money however you are to compensate for that person without being compensated. if it were temporary it is understandable however if it is for 1 year, 2 years, and so on it is the culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on the people in the company, advance within the company, train people appropriately, it takes money to make money, actually listen to the employees and remember your sales force are the ones who are bringing in the money not the people sitting in the corporate office. The board members and C levels need to come from behind the "closed doors" and step up.

    Pros

    Benefits are average for comparable firms.
    Typical co-workers good to work with, strive for performance and pride in work.

    Cons

    Limited opportunity based only on politics and not performance.
    Poor support from management, poor tools to perfrom job function.
    Management disconnected. No planning only reactive. No communication.
    Management not trustworthy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to review integrity of management.
    Need to actually commit to emphasized "ethics", "diversity" and "customer service", not merely recite rhetoric.
