I have been working at Fluid Management

Pros

Exceptional workers get noticed easily and with corporate being local you can get some valuable exposure at that level. Cross department management gives valuable experience.

Cons

Constant work force reduction has left work force demoralized and fearful. New VP of Ops is destroying the company with inaction and ignorance. Leadership team seems to only care about their incentive plans and how they look to corporate. WY to much emphasis on month end and quarter end is killing profit margins

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire or promote a new Ops leader or the company is going to go under or get sold by corporate.

    Pros

Pros: smart, enthusiastic people many who have been there a long time. Interesting facility, processes, and products with access to many technologies. Leader in Industry.

    Cons

Cons: rotating door of employees and management make it unstable and negative work environment based on fear. Departments run as silos making it difficult for true innovation to occur. Lack of sharing information, secrecy and hostility at times when departments work together. Need to update strategic approach to remain competitive in market and encourage talent to flourish instead of penalizing new ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nurture talent within the organization and reward those who perform well and generate new ideas and processes.Dont overwork your employees so much and give them more flexibility. Get stable leadership in place and be more realistic about sales goals. Learn how to cocreate before products and work environment become obsolete and investigate new business models. Invest in industrial psychologists or team building experts to help improve communication amongst departments, learn how to work together more effectively and hold people accountable for it. Conduct more research with your customers and competitors to develop better products. Focus more on long term growth instead of only short successes.

I have been working at Fluid Management

    Pros

The employees are a good group and want the company to succeed. They are the leader in the industry due to their history and name recognition.

    Cons

Upper management’s expectations of the employees are unrealistic on every level. A new General Manager is assigned to this IDEX business unit just about every 18 months and comes with a new direction. The sales/marketing/quality/logistics departments need many more employees to do what upper management is requiring. In most cases, individuals are doing two or three jobs. Communication within this organization is poor at best between/within departments and there is a constant upper management power struggle. They are not developing any new markets for their products and their primary customer base is shrinking quickly.
