I have been working at Fluor

Pros

Fluor offers top pay. There are a lot of good people to work with.

Cons

Fluor is a big company and it is easy to get lost in the crowd. The company has a tendancy to hire people and put them in a cubicle and have them do nothing. Fluor does not care because the client gets billed for the time. Flour has a tendancy to overstaff the projects and work inefficiently so that they can bill more hours to the client. Anyone contemplating a job with Fluor has to keep in mind that there is a good chance that you will be placed in a cubicle with nothing to do so that your time can be billed to the customer.

Management is distant from the people that work for them. They go our of their way to avoid interaction with the "worker bees". It is difficult to have a decent discussion with your supervising manager regarding the work you do and your future career.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be affraid of the people that work for you, you can interact with them every once in a while. Try providing value for your customers instead of trying to bill as many hours as you possibly can.

I have been working at Fluor

    Pros

One of the best ENC companies to work for in terms of work/life balance. Fluor has a tremendous backlog that should keep them busy for the next five years. Fluor Houston office is also situated in the suburbs of Sugar Land which makes it a very friendly work location with respect to the number of shops that you can visit before/after work in the event that one needs to buy something for their home.

    Cons

It is a really big company and may be made to feel like a number some days. There is also a fair amount of neputism within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior Management should pay attention to the attrition rate, and thus try to retain and coach the younger portion of the workforce to prepare them to become leaders of the future.
