Pros

When management is good, the job is good. Some will help you advance if you show interest enough.

Cons

Not the greatest pay, all depends on management's involvement to whether you can advance or not.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

A 2 cent raise maybe every two years is not decent. Also, if an employee wants to advance why not help them instead of hold them back?

I worked at Food Lion part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The job wasn't hard to do.

    Cons

    Where to start....
The pay was horrible, the hours were a joke (barely covered gas and childcare and lived only a mile away), The way they did the secdual was a nightmare. They insisted you have your availability in at 9 am on Tuesday nothing after would be accepted but then they refused to give you your hours until that Thursday. They only give you at best 15 hours a week then expect you to put them first when you get a second job just to cover gas. They would have 4 people working during the slowest part of the day and expect you to simply stand at the end of you line then only 2 people working when the store is slammed and get all upset when your taking too long to check people out. They forget to give you your breaks so you have to ask for them and then you might not get to go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employee's like valuable people, not cattle. Give them a livable wage or accept that they have to get a second job.
