I worked at Food Services of America full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Great pay and benefits.Good people to work with. Union pension and health insurance.

Cons

Very early start times and very long days.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to founding principals. Promote from within. New management from outside is corrupting a great company. More than enough qualified people inside the company already.

I worked at Food Services of America for more than 5 years

    Pros

...at one time a strong organization lead by a dynamic and successful icon! He surrounded himself with great and talented people and lead with a forward thinking market approach.

    Cons

The lights went out when the owner passed and have never come back on! Today all of SGA/FSA is a leaderless shell of a company with a leadership void so obvious, it's deafening!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

my advise...sell to another company before it's too late!!

I am sad to see what was a great company exploding and falling, becoming a shell of what it was, and failing.

I worked at Food Services of America for more than 10 years

    Pros

The company was once the pride of the Northwest, the best and brightest ran to join the company, employees felt bullet proof and customers loved dealing with a family owned professional company. That has changed 100%.

    Cons

Since the death of the founder and owner there has been a significant decline in clarity and true leadership. The company has lost it's soul, the term 'squeal factor' is used in regards to how to treat customers (pay attention to them once they start to squeal). And long time long term employees that made millions of dollars for them are shown the door, which happens in big business, but they don't get a thank you, much less a severance package. 20 plus year loyal employees, including senior management, are simply shown the door. Horrible treatment and a very real look into the soul of the upper leaders and how they operate and think about the people that do the real work. Servant leadership, hardly, employee stewardship, not even.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The two CEO's need to do the honorable thing and quit. The family needs to go on a search and hire a CEO that can do the job, a job that will inspire confidence, build teams, make great strategic decisions that are sustainable and create lasting relationships with operators (customers) and supplier partners. Your Vision is simply a Di-Vision for the rest of the company.
