I have been working at Forest City Enterprises

Pros

In the thick of things Downtown, especially with the Casino opening soon! Definitely a good place to spend a few years to gain a significant amount of knowledge and experience in accounting, especially real estate accounting. There are a suprising number of CPA's within the company, which is good for mentoring.

Cons

Nepotism; not a huge company, therefore, more competition for positions when moving up in management.

I have been working at Forest City Enterprises

    Pros

Top management that cares about employees. Appreciation of work-life balance. Commitment to sustainability and environmental issues. Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Being part of a company that has real, positive impact on communities through its projects.

    Cons

Company is fairly fragmented such that different business units, department and offices don't interact. Policies and procedures can be too informal. Too little attention paid to training managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to put more emphasis on selecting and training managers. Also, policies and procedures should be made uniform and adhered to across the company.
