I worked at Forsythe Technology

Pros

Learned a lot about the IT VAR industry. Good benefits. Nice office. Reasonable pay. Potential for bonuses.

Cons

New positions and titles are created as an excuse to promote those employees in the "clique" while others work hard and successfully accomplish goals and are not promoted.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a close look at those that are really doing the work and those that are just skating by.

A major mistake in going there in the first place.

I have been working at Forsythe Technology

    Pros

The salaries are competitive and the benefits are probably above average as well. They have a broad array of skilled resources that can be very valuable in your sales efforts, but it can be very difficult to take advantage of them unless you are one of the select few Account Managers who have been there a long time.

    Cons

The company lacks focus and wastes too much time and resources working on new vendor products that don't pan out. The company will invest in new endeavors one day and then change direction three months later and let those resources and opportunities die on the vine. It is impossible to trust any of the management team at Forsythe. They will say one thing to your face and then stab you in the back behind closed doors. It is close to impossible for a new Account Manager to be successful at the company. Anytime you try to bring in a new account, an existing long-time rep will claim the account as theirs and management will never support the new guy. You really have to suck up to management to survive at the company, but a bunch of yes-men will end up being the downfall of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO needs to clean house in terms of your executive sales management team. I have never seen anyone as poorly respected and incompetent as the VP in charge of the region I was in and the brand leadership team is the worst. You need to bring in outside leadership that has experience in the industry, but when you did that with one individual on the IBM side, you got rid of him after a seemingly short period. He was one of very few good managers to work with at the company!

I have been working at Forsythe Technology

    Pros

Gain a view for IT from the perspective of a CIO or VP of Infrastructure. They have the ability to execute around IT Security, all components of infrastructure Virtualization/ Consolidation, DC Facilities / Strategy / Moves / Strategy consulting / ITIL

    Cons

Most resources are in Skokie, IL and are dedicated to tenured reps. Most enterprise accounts are spoken for in some way by senior reps. Employee Ownership has drawbacks when it comes to getting your money out of the stock program if you leave ( it's 18 + months after leaving for me and still no funds returned). Field sales leadership is nonexistent
