I have been working at Fossil part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Clear company image and communication/selling stories, product information made easily available, fun product to work with and cool store environments, really focused on excellent customer service

Cons

Sometimes had unrealistic expectations about selling quantities, could be catty- but that is retail in general!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep listening to your employees and maintaining and open channel of communication!

    I worked at Fossil part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    One of the biggest pros of working at Fossil is the amazing discount! They also have great customers in general because of the many customer friendly policies so you don't deal with as many angry customers as you would in another retail job. The atmosphere is also really nice, assuming you're not working at an outlet, the stores are generally well-lit and the music is not too loud which makes it pretty relaxing. There is also the pro of being able to wear whatever you want as long as it adheres to the dress code (if you're not working in a clothing store).

    Cons

    The only two cons I can think of are the sales goals and the dress code.
    The sales goals at my store were not changed to reflect less shopping after the holidays were over, this made it pretty stressful trying to meet unrealistic goals. Also, in the spring/summer even as it warms up you still are expected to adhere to the dress code (layering).

    Don't pressure employees so much with sales goals.

    Pros

    Great product and loyal customer base; employee discount 50%; excellent merchandising and resets; solid history of the founders

    Cons

    Management plays favoritism and at times it felt like working with high school aged individuals; upper management style is not proactive yet reactive when something is not good enough; company does not listen to managers in the field doing the work; product can be a little too conservative at times for the target customer; lack of communication between mid-level and store management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get off your high horse and pay attention to the people in your stores; walk the talk to earn respect.
