Good experience

Former Employee - Apparel Clerk

I worked at Fred Meyer part-time

Pros

Getting to help customers was always great, and I absolutely loved all of my coworkers. It was a good atmosphere, and I would work there again in a heartbeat.

Cons

Sometimes the expectations of corporate and management was too high. A heavy workload is one thing, but we're not superhuman, and it's ridiculous to ask us to have everything perfect by close when we still have customers on the floor at close.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be a 30 minute window after close when workers can do a quick sweep before leaving without having to worry about being penalized for staying late.

I have been working at Fred Meyer part-time

    Pros

It is great when it is near Christmas and they give you about 25-30 hours.

    Cons

It sucks after the new year that they cut your hours to about 18 a week, just a few hours shy of being able to maintain the benefits. You have to pay union dues even though if you don't get enough hours, it really doesn't seem to do you any good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR states they want to make sure you can get benefits, so make sure no one gets hired at less than the required amount per department unless it is for an awfully good reason.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
