Freddie Mac – “I wish the government would leave us alone!”

Pros

Technologically speaking, Freddie offers a variety of disciplines to explore. From SAS, Java and C# on UNIX and mainframe, Freddie is not afraid to spend money and time seeking out front-line technology.

Cons

With that spending there is a downside. Sometimes upper management can not or is not willing to stop chasing bad money decisions with more money. In my experience with the company, there are or have been two solid examples of Off the Shelf software decisions that ultimately made zero sense and cost the company a huge amount of time and money.

Advice to Senior Management

Too many people feel disenfranchised and without a voice at Freddie these days. Any sort of constructive criticism seems to get kicked back as evidence of a negative attitude. It is as if we are all standing around telling the emperor how great he looks in his new clothes.
