I worked at Freddie Mac full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

If you work hard you will be rewarded. Great place to learn. You will learn a lot if you make the effort- if you don't - it is your loss. Very dependent on project and business unit but overall, you will be recognized for your hard work and you will be well compensated.

Cons

It was a turbulent time when I was there, but as economy has settled, it has improved. People can get comfortable in their positions and so if you want to "kick butt" expect that you will run into people who just want to work 9-5 and that is it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do a better job removing under performers.

I have been working at Freddie Mac full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible work, training opportunities, mostly nice people, diverse work force, volunteer opportunities, noble mission.

    Cons

Lots of reorgs and changes, very little upward mobility, talent is not always properly recognized and undercompensated, social stigma associated with negative media coverage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase transparency - the employees are all adults and can handle it.
Reduce bureaucracy - this is easier said than done but it is the only way to make the company competitive in a post-conservatorship marketplace.
