I worked at Frederick's of Hollywood

    Pros

The 40% discount... great at the store level if you have the right team.

    Cons

Sales goals not reachable with merchandise levels allocated to stores. Spent the last two or more years with a constant customer wait list for certain sizes of basic items. Company never able to forecast and allocate merchandise according to store specific sales trends. Merchandise quality declining... more fit and workmanship issues as time progresses. Managers expected to control conversion and drive sales but payroll running at rock bottom and managers unable to staff sales floor to meet the needs of corporate projections. Conversion... every store manager's nightmare. Based on - as the IT guy who de-installed my POS equipment at store closing said - "crap" hardware - not using good equipment and holding managers accountable. So behind the times technologically it is almost laughable... no internet or email at the store level??? Still??? In 2010??? Many changes at the corporate level and few left in Hollywood seem to be able to look beyond the desk in front of them and take a realistic look at what they are expecting from store level employees. I came in to the company during bankruptcy and waited for times to get better... underpaid and stayed because I felt loyal to the brand. In the end, things are so financially unstable almost 9 years later, I was notified on a Thursday that the store's last day of business would be in 12 days.

    Why bother... they NEVER listen?

I have been working at Frederick's of Hollywood

    Pros

Great discount on product sold in store and on line.
Most of the people that work there are fun to work with.
let you try out your ideas.
had a great time helping people find what they were looking for. felt like i was part of a team.
corp is helpful when you need something from they. ie computer goes down. need something from payroll.
the pay is good. most stores will try and work with your school schl. most stores will try to give hours to everyone.

    Cons

some district managers do not help you when needed. they pick on some of the people that work at the stores. store managers are allowed to do what they want, when they want ie have friends call the store to talk in the back. leave early with out getting points on their record. allowed to set in back and not sell. blame the other manager if store does not make goal for week or month. get to pick who they want to give hours to and write people up for her mistakes.
there is not a lot of room to grow in the comp. you have to wait for some one to leave to get moved up or you have to move to another store. they can pick who they want to move up even if the other person is better for the job. they follow the roles for one people and not the other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

try to follow the roles. help the store make goals and not set in the back all the time. let other people help out and be a team player. main place managers are great i learned a lot from that store in the short time i helped out.
