I have been working at Freeman full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Senior management genuinely cares about the company and its employees. 3rd generation family members remain active, productive employees in their roles as CEO and Vice Chair. They always make decisions with the best interest of the company and employees in mind. In fact, it is difficult to separate the interests of the company and the interests of the employees because of the family / employee-owned structure of the company. The compensation is competitive across all job functions and the benefits package is stellar. There will always be people who are dissatisfied, and those for whom no health insurance plan could possibly cover their unique needs, but overall, the benefits are unimpeachable and certainly contribute to the company's attractiveness as an employer.

    Cons

The company could improve in the area of career advancement and promotion. They are continaully revamping training initiatives, but there never seems to be a clear path to advancement. I attribute this to the company's paternalistic qualities and their desire to see employees happy and satisfied.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue along your current path, but perhaps make your decisions more transparent. Not necessarily trying to sell their merits to the employees at large, but explaining the reasoning behind the decisions.

    Pros

The benefits are pretty good, but that's it

    Cons

Pay, LONG hours constantly, kiss your family goodbye, because they own you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You say we're all family, but all you really do is work us to death and burn us out. Worst 6 years of my life
