I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time for less than a year

Pros

Pay is good, hours are good with a good schedule

Cons

COMMUNICATION!!! UNION SUCKS!!! LAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZY BOSSES and all around if your young and want to grow your life you cant because your not green carded to do anything there.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to what your employees are doing if you had better productivity with better communication skills you could cut the contractors out and truly grow the mine. The reason this place lays off so often is not because of copper prices more because of managers allowing people to milk the clock and waste the companies money.

I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, good salary, friendly environmnet. Out of all FMI locations, Sierrita is the best positioned since it is close to a metropolitan area (Tucson).

    Cons

Work complexity (minimum), non-challenging. Engineering departments focus more on project management than anything else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop new technologies, motive new graduates, invest more time in career development. Training could be improved by offering more opportunities to train outside the state.
