I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (more than an year)

Pros

All of the managers I have interacted with at Freescale have treated their employees with respect. It's a great community, everyone is friendly and understanding with one another. Benefits are also excellent, and the facility has a great gym with fantastic instructors.

Cons

There are not really any downsides to working with Freescale. I will say that if you live downtown or on the north side the traffic on Mopac can be extremely tedious.

    I worked at Freescale Semiconductor

    Pros

good work-life balance -- after many rounds of mass layoffs, people that are left realize there's no point killing yourself if you can get laid off tomorrow no matter how good you are
all the dead wood was laid off years ago
some cool technology, with sharp, very experienced engineers who are leaders in their fields

    Cons

when I was there, they were willing to spend almost enough money and properly fund projects, but then cheap out instead of finishing the job, so they'd never get their money's worth
every-changing focus frustrates both employees and customers
USA payroll is shrinking, so if you are working there advancement opportunities are limited
