Former Employee - Patient Care Technician in Memphis, TN

Pros

Cons

As a pct there is no room for advancement it it deadend.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider a tech moving up in the company, they know the ends and outs of your patient care. This could potentially translate into some good management. The nurses get all the perks and do have the work.

Rigid, Highly Structured, Metrics Obsessed, Clubhouse Mentality --

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Metairie, LA
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Metairie, LA

    Pros

Front line management typically good and willing to work with employees.

    Cons

DO NOT be a runs with scissors personality and expect to last long. If it's the only game in town -- from an IT perspective -- make it a temp gig and seek employment elsewhere while pulling a paycheck from FMC.

Back office is addicted to metrics -- metrics for the sake of metrics -- and takes a "it all evens out in the end" attitude, but, does not put said attitude into action when the whip is cracked. Incredibly micro-managed, and incredibly over the top rigid with regard to 'rules'. Management will sometimes "cut their nose to spite their face" because they feel their authority is 'undermined' by a trifling issue.

More still,, continuing to black-mark the employees who simply don't wish to participate in after-hours affairs with senior-management has got to go -- it's not a clubhouse, it's a business. If it's OPTIONAL then let it be optional. Employees are not there to be serfs at senior-managements beck and call off-the-clock simply to stroke an ego. Indeed, if the ego is so fragile that it's deemed necessary to manage out an employee for a slight such as not attending a dinner -- an OPTIONAL dinner -- then some may want to consider therapy. Overheard during a conference from a fellow employee "Don't think they didn't notice who was there and who wasn't there last night at dinner, I guarantee those who weren't will be gone by the end of the month" -- and, it's true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continuing to grind down passionate IT employees with metrics and FMC will end up with automatons at the lowest common denominator of "it's just a job", and, then wonder why no innovation or real 'go-getters' are left in the rank and file. To quote one senior level IT manager "I could just fire you all and hire fresh graduates from ITT Tech for 12 bucks an hour and have just as good a team". More still, playing petty clubhouse games, and, obsessing over the slightest bucking of authority makes this the stereotypical souless corporation that put OWS on the streets. And, rightly so at this point.
