Friendly's was a nice place to work. The quality of the people is what made it special to come to work everyday.

Pros

Working for a place that makes people smile with their products was a nice feeling. Friendly's has a long tradition of quality and customer satisfaction and servicing the communities in which it operates. It was small enough of a company that I enjoyed coming to work everyday. It felt like a family.

Cons

Lack of opportunities for advancement. Loss of some benefits, although in fairness to Friendly's this seems to be the trend in most companies these days.

Advice to Management

Keep up the quarterly drop in sessions. They are a great avenue to keep employees informed and involved. Try to focus more on promoting from within for director level and above. There are some very talented people with a lot of years of service and local ties to the area. I understand the need to bring in quality people but locals know the area and how Friendly's used to be in its heyday.

You'll work hard for a company that doesn't even know you exist.

    Pros

Experience, paying for college, making new friends

    Cons

Poor management, lack of recognition, no benefits, deceit, poor corporate ethics

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to be restructured or this company is going to fail. Hire managers that have a college degree and not just anyone who fills out an application. Stop decreasing the quality of your products to "cut corners", customers do notice. Offer some kind of benefits so that you can keep decent employees around. Train your employees. Keep products in stock! Customers do not want to hear that we are out of Chocolate Ice Cream or any of the essential items the restaurant needs.

    Pros

Flexible hours are great for college students, the money is quick but have to be willing to go after it.

    Cons

Management is underpaid and therefore inadequate, incompetent and often times uncivil hypocrites. Corporate policy does not not take the real world into account.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what the employees tell you are good ideas. They just might make your job easier.
