    I worked at FrontRange Solutions

    Pros

    - good pay
    - lower management seems to understand software
    - good development environment (build system works, db scripts work most of the time, etc)
    - if your not working the software department you can expect reasonable work hours
    - get yummy donuts once in a while
    - all the free coffee and tea you can drink
    - funny office space type culture

    Cons

    - extremely high pressure for the software department
    - engineers routinely put in 70+ hours a week, working on weekends
    - death march mentality
    - unrealistic deadlines
    - management plays favorites
    - engineers look unhappy at daily meetings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - the pressure cooker environment will cause some employees to leave, thus adding more costs for rehiring more workers
    - high pressure situations are not sustainable

    Pros

    There is no reason to work for FrontRange, unless you are absolutely stuck and can't find another job. IN that case, its better t han no job, just duck and cover.

    Cons

    The Management doesnt respect the customer, the partners or the employees.
    McCloskey came. and said he would grow the company in 2 years to over 100M; we just finally made it in 2007 through merger/acquistion - not through anything clever by the executive team.

    They had 2 great products- HEAT and GoldMine, and that suffered, and now fallen behind because most of the R&D is dumped in ailing ITSM. The original HEAT team has started a competiting product cherwell sottware - if you like that segment, maybe give them a call i nstead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The advice should go to the investors - remove the entire management team - they are only there to serve themsleves - waiting for the "Event".

    As for the executive team - focus on the core competencies and grow organically - instead of doing acquisitions for growth.
