I have been working at Fry's Food full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

each store is truly a family. upper management is good pay for minimal education, a lot of opportunity for advancement. #1 grocer in AZ- job security! very hourly associate oriented, they speak Jon listens

Cons

Jon doesn't seem to care much about salary associates often requiring 6 day work weeks, the salary is good but if you broke it down to hourly you'd be dissappointed. Discrentled hourly associates have the power to make it very hard on salary managers and they know it. the company's direction on diversity is more like affirmative action often putting the wrong person in the wrong position often setting that person up to fail.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

quit trying to reinvent the wheel. sell groceries and take care of ALL associates.

I have been working at Fry's Food part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There used to be good insurance until 10/2012 that was completely paid for by the company, but now the benefits have gone down quite a bit and it requires a weekly employee contribution.

    Cons

While the company and its serior management preach beautifully about employee apreciation and what a family we all are, absolutely none of it carries down to store level. In 6+ years, I have never had/seen any manager act in the way to company wants them to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate your employees better (dividing into multiple contract tiers really shows how little you care about the compensation package you offer).
Give them their breaks on time (too many times have I seen people get their break half an hour before they leave; unacceptable).
Special employee events (i.e. Golf & Stuff / Castles and Coasters days; talent shows; Ford Mustang giveaways) don't mean anything to your workers if they are treated badly on a daily basis.

I worked at Fry's Food full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent place to develop job skills and responsibility, opportunity to work up to decent pay after a few years

    Cons

You have a high chance of working with irresponsible teenagers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your employees know when you change the schedule instead of hoping they drop by and check every day.
