Former Employee – worked at GE Aviation as a contractor for more than a year

Pros – Lots of responsibility to employees, customer focus, travel to meet customers when required but also excellent video conferencing facilities, flexi time. Good internal promotion policy.

Cons – Matrix managent led to conflict between departments at times, not enough investment and redundancies led to significantly increased workload to remaining staff. No bonus in Aviation Systems irrelevant of personal performance.

Advice to Senior Management – Give more power to MD's of individual business to reduce the problems of matrix management. MD's should be predominantly a people person able to bring all aspects of the business together.
