I worked at GE Aviation as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Learned a lot about engineering process and experience trumps any lesson that is offered in a traditional classroom. The people were friendly and willing to help, especially early in the co-op.

    Cons

While people were willing to help, there was a fair bit of gossipy backstabbing and competition to win over the managers favor. It's to be expected in most cooperate environments, though.

I worked at GE Aviation as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

You gain exposure and extensive work with value streaming and safety for an enormous manufacturing system.
GE does a good job reviewing performance and giving feedback - a lot of opportunities to improve skills.
Hours were very flexible and pay was fantastic.

    Cons

Intimidating, bureaucratic nature of the company makes it difficult to really get much done. Every job has a specific person or union that it must be done by, and requires several emails and a form or two to be accomplished. While this greatly increased my ability to efficiently deal with red tape, it was frustrating most of the time.

Work felt static - just meeting status quo every day, didn't really feel like innovation or progress were happening.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only worked for a summer - I'm not really in a position to have much advice for upper management.
