GE Consumer & Industrial – “GE Consumer and Industrial”
Pros
-Great co-workers.
-Decent compensation.
-Great history. The company is well respected throughout the world.
-The company operates with the highest level of integrity.
Cons
-The leadership team will not make investments necessary to grow the business. It is strictly a cost-out culture. We live from quarter-to-quarter and no one is brave enough to make a major long-term investment.
-Jeff Immelt, the CEO, is a poor leader who has driven our stock price into the toilet.
-I am not sure where I go next in regard to my career path.
Advice to Senior Management
-Jeff Immelt needs to stop being a "waffler". Wall Street hates inconsistency.
-He stated he would "spin off" the Lighting and Industrial businesses, and then it never happend. He said he will "never cut the dividend" and then within a month, he cut the dividend. He said "we need to focus on being a global company" and then a year later he announces a manufacturing excellence facility to be built, located in Detroit, to focus on American manufacturing. He said he was going to buy Abbott and then he didn't do it...etc., etc., etc. This is a very poor say-do ratio.
-The leadership team needs to deep-dive into the individual businesses and find synergy. We currently have a bunch of businesses that are serving the same customers that don't interface enough with one another. e.g. GE Energy, Industrial, Fanuc, Zenith UPS.
-The leadership team needs to better understand the details of our businesses so they can figure out how to put the pieces together to make us a more powerful competitior overall.
