I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    retirement benefit plus 401k match
tends to be more job stability than small companies
    marketing driven - program focus
    profit generating company
limits competition by only investing in high barrier to entry products

    Cons

    big company politics
suffocating process - regulated industry is partly to blame but cya attitude multiples the problem
lack of long term engineering vision - downside of market driven approach
very little innovation - slowly evolves existing product
management is focused on climbing the ladder rather than technology savy
management is inbred - lack of outside perspective
management leadership is overrated - no vision
long-term employees have become techically obsolete but politically entrenched
not a good incubator of software talent
lots of false technical leaders with great sales skills
true technical leaders will find it difficult to influence the roadmap

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Run company more like small businesses so innovation can thrive.
Compete by being the most efficient and lean at implementing regulatory process.
    Forget the one-line theme slogans.
