I worked at GE full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Obviously GE has perfected numerous best practices and is usually operating at the forefront of efficiency. In addition, the opportunities for ownership and differentiation are abundant. Corporate training is top notch as you are learning right next to some of the smartest people in the world.

    Cons

Culture can definitely be abrasive. Many individuals who had been with the company for 20+ years but weren't in an executive band position seemed to be hollow inside. This is one of the main reasons I left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR has a long way to go. They never once helped me with anything. That is, they often got involved, they just made life more difficult rather than help me in any way shape or form. Probably because they are so focused on moving up the ladder and don't care about the people they are responsible for during the 18 months they're in a role.

I worked at GE as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Internship program was phenomenol: great salary, great housing, good program structure, great mentors, realistic fun projects, great opportunity to earn honors and awards.

    Cons

The full time offer was not competitive and too much travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great IMLP internship program. It got my career started on the right foot! If you want to retain more interns, make full time offers more competitive.
