I have been working at GE

Pros

-Leadership training
-Career progressions (can change jobs every 18-24 months if desired)
-Great Benefits

Cons

-Lack of visibility in a huge organization
-Very metric focused work environment. More often than not, decisions are made so people can hit numbers instead of focusing on doing the right thing

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Compensation is much better outside the company. Recognize grad degrees and performance when considering compensation
-Focus on talent development and leadership training outside of the leadership programs

I have been working at GE full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

GE is very fast paced and exciting with great company benefits and quirks if you do your job and show promise. GE gives freedom for growth and self development.

    Cons

Work life balance is challenging and if you don't "fit in" or play the "office politics" your career can go from one of extreme satisfaction to one of chaos and heartache. Although improvement includes challenging "the norm" at times, if doing so involves the wrong individual in authority, your future within the company is grim.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider corresponding with the supply chain employees Middle management does not endorse. Their favorites do as they do, thus the reason they are acknowledged. Communicate with the one or two who do not appear successful as they are the ones challenging the norm with out of the box thinking and those employees are actually key in the new leadership and will be needed to take back our position as the number one company globally.
