I worked at GE full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Benefits excellent. Time off policy very good. Able to research and apply for positions throughout the company in all divisions and subsidiaries. Leadership training very good. GE employees are looked at by other companies and recruiters.

Cons

Very high expectations so be ready to put in some long days. In some areas there is management overkill. Too much training overlap in some GE business.

Advice to Management

Stay in tune with your co-workers. Remember they work for GE, not you.

    I have been working at GE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Excellent training, intelligent and friendly co-workers, good managers (for the most part), good co-operation amongst team members, semi-relaxed work environment.

    Cons

    High bureaucracy, average salary, too many processes, lack of opportunities to advance career, average medical benefits, and retaining low performing employees.

    Advice to Management

    Less bureaucracy, less complicated and time-wasting processes, less value-added work, and more empowerment to the employees who are actually doing the bulk of the work.

    Pros

    I feel like my own boss when dealing with customers and scheduling service calls.

    Cons

    The constant 24/7 dealing with all the metrics which you end up doing after hours and on vacation.

    Advice to Management

    Make sure what we're getting measured on is what is going to improve the company.
