Most people last about a year; when they leave, they leave hating this company.

    I worked at GEICO full-time

    Pros

    -Nice co-workers.
-OK pay if you don’t have a degree.
-Stable company. As long as you don't cross anyone with "power", it's really hard to get fired.
-Decent benefits, although after 2014, this point won't matter.
-Long training, which means a lot of time off of the phones!
-Easy to get hired there because they're always hiring.
-Close to the mall and food chains which makes up for no cafeteria and a mediocre facility.
-Licenses are taught and paid for by the company.

    Cons

-No work/life balance. Mandatory overtime. Permanent weekends and evenings.
-Terrible culture and morale. Everyone is worked to death. Most would leave if there were other opportunities in the area.
-Fast-paced, mentally exhausting work that is micromanaged.
-Negative feedback about every little thing you do wrong. Inconsistencies in procedures, scoring, and treatment of employees.
-Lack of promotional opportunities. Not a company to have a career with unless you're willing to move.
-Software programs are unreliable, yet you’re expected to still meet your goals.
-Career advancements are politics rather than actual skill.
-Managers and supervisors have been known to “date” their subordinates. The environment is incredibly unprofessional and gossipy. It's a small office. Word travels fast.

The bottom line: This list continues. Do yourself a favor. Don’t waste your time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a multi-billion dollar company, yet it cannot seem to retain employees, reward employees, or keep up with the cost of living in any office. Its pathetic when supervisors and managers try to motivate their associates when they themselves hated being on the phones.

I have been working at GEICO full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

One of the best reasons to work at GEICO are for the benefits you receive right when your hired on the spot. They offer great ways to pursue into other fields within the company for your career.

    Cons

Micro-management seems they are on watch at everything you do. Having calls monitored and as to why or why not you said such and so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give time and patience to let the employee grow, and learn about each individual's best practices to learn.
