    I worked at GENBAND

    Pros

People who survive the layoffs are good-natured, willing to help across department lines, knowledgeable about the products. The company has a bright future with the inheritance of the VoIP business recently acquired from Nortel. The Nortel switch and the GENBAND media gateway should make a powerful combination.

    Cons

Uncertainties due to all the mergers and acquisitions leaves employees wondering what will happen to their jobs with the next big movement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with the employees. When you're about to have a layoff, give the employees some forewarning. This can be done discretely with those targeted for layoff.
