    Pros

The particular plant I work at has great people. Everyone takes pride in their work and truly wants to make the facility world class. Most everyone is easy to get along with.

    Cons

Our main customer is difficult to work with. We build to print, but the prints are terribly incorrect. We end up doing most of their engineering for them and have a hard time meeting their demands. It doesn't help that it is a military (government funded) program where the smallest, necessary changes take a lot of time and effort to get done through the proper avenues. The volume of work is too much to keep up with the amount engineers available. The plant is lacking in technology, which inhibits our ability to be world-class from a quality standpoint. The pay isn't great either, but "competitive" in an industry-starved region.

    Advice to Management

Hire more engineers, and no-bid contracts from customers that are not willing to support our production needs. Also, capital expenditure on technology would allow us the machine availability to produce quality parts at a high rate.
