Pros

Great diversity and very motivated coworkers. Pay is higher than other engineering careers available to entry level employees

Cons

Most employees are salary and work a lot of overtime without always getting compensated

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more employees to evenly distribute the large amount of work required in the new fab

    Pros

    Innovative, growing, changing the landscape of the semiconductor industry. Great access to senior management - who actually listen. Built the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in the world in Malta New York. Bringing back thousands of technology jobs that would have otherwise gone to Taiwan or South Korea. Company is growing and growing fast. In 2012 Globalfoundries was the fastest growing company in the world.

    Cons

    Lots and lots of work. But exciting and meaningful... and you are actually making change. Turn-over has been high in the past year as the company get's the right team in-place.

    Continue to build a common understanding of our goals and how we everyone can contribute.

    Pros

    State of the art facilities. Possibility for company growth leading to opportunity. Backer's with deep pockets. Diverse work force. strenthening local economy.

    Cons

    More image than substance. Upper management seems more interested in projecting to the world that we are a prestigous and successfull company, than they are actually becoming one....... Not entirely truthfull with employee prospects. Talking a big game about raises, bonuses, and promotions, none which will actually come to fruition.......Too much emphasis on degree over experience. Allowing a college grad that has never seen a microchip make process and policy decisions while ignoring the input of techs that have been successfully processing wafers for most of their lives. You have a lot of 20 - 25 year old grads with 0 experience telling 45 - 50 year old techs with 20 years of experience how to do their jobs........Openly spends way too much money on unnecessary building and superficial facelift upgrades while telling hard working employees there is no money for raises or bonuses which were promised.......They Absolutely manage through fear. Middle management is deathly afraid of facing upper management in meetings(to which there are way to many) when issues arise. Causing a trickle down effect. Middle management in turn takes it out on engineers and techs because of said fear. A lot of blame coming from upper management when in business it is known that upper management usually gets the credit when the business succeeds, and the blame when it fails. The upper management at Global Foundries likes to take credit for success and blame middle management and employees for failures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Utilize your experienced people. Stop placing so much emphasis on someone's degree. Regardless of degree, someone just walking into this industry is completely unqualified to make the decisions and policies that you allow them to make. You say talent quite a bit regarding your work force. Unfortunately you emphasize potential talent when you already have proven talent that you are ignoring. Take the difficult road to becoming a prestigous and successfull company. Stop projecting that you already are, you are not fooling anyone. Stop making unnecessary luxury upgrades when you cannot bring yourself to give out raises and bonuses to the employees you are counting on to get to the point of prestige. Believe me, without a raise or a bonus, employees do not care how extravagent the cafeteria is, or how many roundabouts you install.......Remember, happy employees are motivated successfull employees. Disgruntled employees, are unmotivated and careless. By taking a look at the trends and overall opinions on this website will show you that you are doing something wrong. Your employees are unhappy. They work holidays, weekends, nights, etc, and their morale drops a little more with each added unnecessary rule and/or regulation. Each missed pay increase. Each unpaid bonus. each time you pour coutless millions more into this place but do not seem to have anything left for the people you are counting on to reach the level of prestige and success that your PR projects. Lets be a company of substance, not just a company of image. It is mind boggling how many talented employees have already left because of the mirage that this is a well managed, honest, employee driven powerhouse. Start worrying about the Global employee's opinions on GLOBALFOUNDRIES, not the publics. And the problem is the polically driven, arrogant management team. Lets at least become successfull before we become arrogant.
