I worked at GNC part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Commission. You earn 1-4 dollars for some of the preworkout mix drinks and diet pills. New products are fun to learn about. Employee discount. It was 20% but it may have changed at the turn of the new year.

    Cons

First in first out monthly stock accountability. You literally have to go through and read the expiration dates on every single product, bottle, jug, overstock, backstock-whatever, every single month even though the expiration dates are sometimes years away. Everything has to be on the shelves in order by their expiration date so if someone messes up stocking the shelf, you have a ton of work on your hands. The promotion changes are insane and take forever and depending on how the schedule is worked out, you may be stuck doing the entire thing by yourself.

    Advice to Management

Give individual stores more hours to distribute amongst employees to lighten the load and produce more jobs. Some stores are so understaffed you can't even call out on a sick day.

    Pros

    Employee Discounts is about all!

    Cons

The management is allowed to insult and belittle their employees and have no respect for what they do. For minimum wage, the insults and disrespect are not at all worth it. They accuse you for anything and everything and if the manager doesn't like you they just fire you before the probation period is over, just so they don't have to work with someone who can sell better than they do. They expect you to hit numbers that make no sense and sell products to customers that they don't need. They lie to your face and tell you how great of a job you do and then behind your back insult and look for ways to let you go. Is this really a company that values the customer? No, it is bent on sales that are not needed and products the customer shouldn't use. The RSD is clueless as are the SSM's in this company, they think they know everything and sadly their numbers are not to par. But they are busy doing other things so they don't have time. Except for the fact that their are higher up managers that can accomplish their numbers. I really do enjoy the job, but hate going into work there. For minimum wage, this job is not worth the headaches that come with it. Career advancement doesn't happen as they say and it is full of empty promises.

    Advice to Management

Readvise your goals, they make no sense and are not beneficial to the customer in the least. Exspecially the OMS goals, talking with a nutritionist will let you know that none of these chews actually benefit a person, so just another lie to the customer that they expect for continued employment.
