Pretty flexible, if your manager is friendly the experience is pretty good overall.

Pay not great. You are urged to sell products that do not have commission.

I have been working at GNC full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Discounts, not a lot of micromanaging and the people you can potentially work with.

    Cons

Down time, usually one on one service so it can be slow, not a lot of moving up the corporate ladder, disgruntled customers that have had bad experience at other stores, low pay for amount of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have better incentives when it comes to reaching goals and having a high performing store.

I have been working at GNC full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company still has the reputation of being the the largest and most recognizable supplement company on the planet.....

    Cons

...unfortunately, GNC uses the brand recognition to assume that shoppers are going to head out to the local GNC store whenever they hear of the latest and greatest Dr. Ozz endorsed magic pill of the century. Pricing is the biggest issue. Competition is always going undercut GNC and the company doesn't seem to care. Undeniably the biggest concern at GNC is the higher than average amount of turnover due to employees exiting because of the alarming amount of sales goals to meet. It has become less about selling what the customer needs to selling what will help a sales person make a sales goal. GNC has the mentality that every customer needs to be taking a GNC multi vitamin pak. The awful truth is you feel like failure if the customer doesn't buy exactly the right product, brand and quantity that YOU want them to buy. It's became the used car sales lot of supplement stores and keeps getting worse every year. Managers are leaving at a much higher rate to pursue real careers elsewhere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management would do well to realize that they need to be replaced so that the company can get back on a path where the employees matter in the greater scheme of things
