I have been working at GXS

Pros

GXS is very flexible about allowing employees to take time off and allowing them to work a flexible schedule. Most of the employees are very easy to get along with, and willing to share their knowledge and assist other employees in furthering their own knowledge about a subject. Our customers are the absolute best. I love working with them and being able to assist them is very satisfying.
Our tasks and responsibilities change so often it is impossible to get bored.

Cons

Unless an employee is located offshore, there is no chance for advancement in this company. Salaries and bonuses are frozen for the USA employees who do the bulk of the work.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back the legacy employees who knew what they were doing. You are not really saving any money outsourcing when it takes 5 offshore employees or contractors to do what one used to do in the USA. It has been that way for years.

    Pros

    Great benefits (both medical and time off) hadnt implemented PTO, still recognized the difference between illness and vacation.

    Cons

    No advancement, serious financial difficulties (even before economy issues) senior managment doesnt understand the day to day environment. Lots of OLD technology making the day to day environment very stressful. Senior management doesnt understand the current environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop fighting fires, find the guy with the match! most problems in company are structural (old apps, old HW, etc). Fix the structure fix the problems....listen to employees, not managers.

    Vaporware ,unfulfilled solutions and disatisfied customers; fueled by large debt and a faulty offshore resource model.

    Pros

    If you are in the EDI business and want to stay; GXS at least has it's own VAN.

    Cons

    Overworked, on-call 24x7, senior management ineffectiveness and turnover, poor client relationships, inability to deliver timely solutions, excessive debt to value ratio, the last of the EDI VANs are all like vultures fighting for the remaining scraps of carrion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You need on-shore talent to create and deliver products; you keep proving to your customers that your off-shore resources cannot deliver. You need to go to market with some new fully functioning solutions that don't have to be "customized" from the ground up. Before separating from GE, the company followed good quality control standards; you need to return to that model.
